PT Jatim Jaya Perkasa Empowers People with Disabilities with Sewing Machines
Riau – People with disabilities in Kubu and Kubu Babussalam sub-districts, Rokan Hilir Regency, now have new hope for greater independence. With the support of PT Jatim Jaya Perkasa (JJP), they have received two sewing machines to develop their sewing skills.
This assistance was handed over on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by the Rokan Hilir Disability Activists Association (APDR) on Tuesday (3/12/2024). Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, PT JJP hopes to support the independence of people with disabilities.
"We greatly appreciate the APDR organization for having this idea for people with disabilities. Through this APDR platform, they can become more self-sufficient in the future, so they can work and have skills in their respective fields," said Romaito Hasibuan, SSL Manager (Public Relations) of PT JJP, representing the GM of PT JJP, Parlin S Panjaitan.
Previously, people with disabilities at APDR had followed sewing training. However, limited equipment has been an obstacle in developing their businesses. The chairman of APDR, Muhammad Ludiar, said that with the new sewing machines, they are expected to be able to produce more products and market them.
"The process of assisting with these two sewing machines is very short. Within a month, our proposal was immediately responded by the management of PT Jatim Jaya Perkasa. We are very grateful for the assistance of these two sewing machines," he concluded.
