PT Jatim Jaya Perkasa Boosts Smallholder Productivity with 489-Hectare Replanting Program
Pekanbaru - PT Jatim Jaya Perkasa (JJP) remains committed to improving the welfare of smallholder farmers through various productivity enhancement programs. One such initiative is the replanting program conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024, on a 489-hectare area managed by the Seribu Kubah and Bagansiapiapi Cooperatives.
"We conduct replanting of smallholder oil palm plantations every year. In 2023, we replanted 757 hectares, and in 2024, 489 hectares. This demonstrates the company's commitment to increasing the productivity of smallholder oil palm plantations," said Parlin S Panjaitan, General Manager of PT JJP.
The event was attended by representatives from both cooperatives, PT JJP management, and farmers. The primary objective of this replanting program is to rejuvenate oil palm plantations, enhance productivity, and ultimately increase farmers' income.
"We target an initial harvest yield of 18 tons per hectare by 2026," he added.
The oil palm seedlings used in this replanting program are superior varieties, namely DxP Topaz 3 and DxP Damimas. These superior seedlings were chosen for their high productivity potential and disease resistance. Of the total replanted area, 409 hectares are located in the Seribu Kubah Cooperative's operational area, while the remaining 80 hectares are in the Bagansiapiapi Cooperative's area.
In addition to the replanting program, PT JJP also provides various forms of support to smallholder farmers, such as cultivation training, the supply of quality fertilizers, and market access. Through these efforts, the company aims to build a strong and sustainable partnership with smallholder farmers.
"Hopefully, by implementing this replanting program for smallholder oil palm plantations, the productivity of smallholder oil palm farmers can continue to increase," he concluded.
