PT Graha Agro Nusantara Empowers Rees Village Residents to Manage Integrated Pig Farm
KUBU RAYA, WEST KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA - PT Graha Agro Nusantara (PT GAN), through its empowerment group, Pahayaman Dulakng Talino, facilitated the development of an integrated pig farm for residents of Rees Village, Kuala Bakung Village, Kubu Raya District, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. This program is PT GAN's commitment to empowering communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
In an effort to enhance the well-being and strengthen the local economy, PT GAN provided assistance in the form of pig pens and six piglets to the local community. It is hoped that this assistance will serve as the initial capital for Rees Village residents to embark on a self-sufficient and sustainable integrated pig farming venture.
The strong spirit and commitment of PT GAN's management in developing CSR programs that foster community self-reliance were emphasized by GEM PT GAN, Lumba A. Purba. PT GAN is enthusiastic about making this program a cornerstone in supporting the economy of surrounding communities, particularly in the PT GAN concession area, which is the focus of integrated sustainable land management through pig farming development initiatives.
Furthermore, Agustinus Samosir, SSL PT GAN, explained that the assistance provided goes beyond mere physical aid. It also encompasses the transfer of knowledge and skills. "A meticulously designed sustainable livestock empowerment method has been implemented to ensure the long-term viability of the pig farming business," said Agustinus.S SSL. "Through a holistic and sustainable approach, the community is actively involved in the entire process, from raising the pigs to marketing the resulting products."
Recognizing the potential and needs of the community in the West Kalimantan region, pig farming holds immense promise considering the demand for pigs in customary activities and as a key ingredient in souvenirs from Ambawang and other parts of West Kalimantan.
PT GAN expresses its hope that this pig farming empowerment program will not only boost the economic progress of the local community but also establish a sustainable source of income for the long term. As such, this program can contribute to the advancement of the welfare and economic independence of communities within PT GAN's operational areas.
